Excellent write-up and good philosophy. Stay positive, encourage and be true to yourself.

The 80/20 split can be difficult at times, and right now I'd rather focus on finishing my novel instead of doing that only 20% of the time, but it is essential to have and nurture community.

I resonate with everything you wrote! I took two classes in college where we learned about the importance of personalized customer experience and cultivating excellent relationships with employees, customers, the community. That stayed with me. I had a favorite bakery cafe I used to go to. The owner and staff were lovely, even made a friend. It was my second home. I was heartbroken they closed recently.

Lovely words Barrie, and proof that proper connection is truly that. And in that small community where you had your coffee shop people still talk of you very fondly. Ian at Glitz overheard me mention you last week and immediately asked after you with considerable warmth and enthusiasm. The ripples from your time with us keep rolling out and will do for some time to come. We miss you both (and Jojo’s baking) and are grateful for the influence you both had and still have on the community. There is always a welcome in this hillside! 😂😊🧡 Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus ❤️🤍💚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A wonderful read - really bringing to life the adage of quality over quantity. The importance of human connection, and doing what feels authentic ❤️

A great post. You've taken me back to when I started building my business, The Woolly Pedlar, making one off upcycled garments. To this day I remember who got what coats, and made a point of getting to know my customers. It paid dividends! Individual connection is so important. It only takes a few minutes to bother to leave a message, say if something has resonated. I hope to get to know my readers too once my book is published.
