We have a gentle timeline for ‘where next’ … this little farm will eventually be too much work, so we have notions of a small town house/apartment, somewhere with a regular market, a railway station, a couple of neighbourhood restaurants. Maybe in the next couple of years. Have you looked at many places yet, Raquel?
You may already know about him, but whenever I think of travelling to Japan, I think of Craig Mod. Worth a look at some of his projects! https://craigmod.com/
Thank you so much, Jill. We were both out in the potager today, trying to catch up with the grass and the planting! And such kind words. We’re encouraged!
Another great set of recommendations, thank you Barrie! Through the bikepacking link I've come across a short documentary film Rider Resilience that includes the moving story of Nils Amalinckx, looking forward to watching that later.
Ah, yes. Nils story is one I followed through the pages of Sidetracked Magazine. What an inspiration … “it’s not about how many breaths you take, but what you do that takes your breath away”. An incredible fella.
Oh that desk! Oh that room to put it in! Heaven. I would please now like to go straight there without passing Go, and burry myself in writing and creating now, please, thank you. Beautiful shares again JoJo and Barrie, including Susie’s wonderous photograph, of course, but surely you can get some more things strapped into that bike!? Awesome photo! And the kitchen garden! More heaven (also, I think it needs its 401 mowing!!)
I am so lucky there is such amazing content around to hoover up - and I have limitless curiosity and a bucket of time for seeking it out. It makes such a difference knowing that the curiosities strike a chord. Thank you for the enthusiasm and encouragement, Emily. Now, I better get that lawn mowed!
It really is a dreamy spot! But Little Butterfly was written in a small corner of the dining room so perhaps it isn’t always the special place … I wouldn’t say no though to that view and the desk I included!! Do let me know what you think of the story, Stephanie.
You seem to pack more and more into this every week Barrie! That desk! And that studio in the woods! You'd never get me out...
I haven't read Pamela's Earth day post yet, though I don't doubt the quality of her content,(Pamela I'll be right with you) and your Little Butterfly was and still is my favourite of all your stories.Thank you, for all you do and especially for including a paragraph from my favourite walk ever!
So happy that you are finding some gold in our gather-em-ups … always thrilled to include your words - and occasionally brave enough to include mine. Thanks for the encouragement.
Glad you enjoyed my writing on the coffee culture in Japan. It’s really unique :) I quite enjoyed reading the other sections too and your kitchen garden looks amazing :)
We enjoyed it VERY much; as if we needed another excuse to start making some plans to travel more! Thanks so much for peeking in at the rest and for your kind words.

I feel the same way, specifically, about writing fiction, Barrie. That is why I have practiced so much with 50-word stories. It has been helpful to me -- I can easily see the results when I refer back to what I was writing three years ago. I now try to go straight to the heart of a story, often beginning in the middle, and including only the details that drive the story forward, no sidetracks.
What a great way to use the quote … for once, I hadn’t related it to writing but it is SO true. And the short form as practice ground … absolutely. I have been away from the 100s and 50s for a while. That’s a nice nudge to slide back into a few. Thanks for the prompt, Sharron, and for the generous restack.
I loved this issue, and the perfect space is something out of a dream, I would love to have a home like that. So, so beautiful!
Aw, thank you so much … we love day dreaming about spaces, seeking inspiration for our current one.
Oh me too! And we are actually actively looking for a new place, so it’s always great to get inspo

Oh I wish but it’s hard to schedule visits! We have two scheduled for Saturday. Hopefully we will be able to see more soon
🤞🤞

That’s the most perfect reminder … thank you, Lydia … he was on my radar and slipped off. Excellent!
The potager: beautiful! I'm loving the genuine feel of your Encouragement Meant!

That writing studio… a dream. Congratulations on being featured in TiF! Adding Little Butterly to read.

Will do!

I like that desk!
Funnily enough, I wondered if you might as I dug out the Dieter Rams quote. You are a man of excellent design taste.
As are you! I can’t see if the desk is for sale, but if it is I suspect it might be quite expensive.
Ah, I deliberately avoided shattering my illusion by finding a price!

I loved those stamps! Beats the set we have at home which are a monobook of Petanque-related design :)
Oh, ‘ello … Pétanque stamps, I’m in!

Courage is so heart felt!
A license plate identifies me simply, no numbers, just OUI VIE: that's you as much as me!

Potager is a magnifique word to plant
In jardin terraced soil,
earthworm castings tossed-tilled
to refresh the soul.
Beautiful … absolutely love this!
