So sorry I missed this previously ... so thrilled that you are also finding this community a prompt for your curiosity. There are so many trails of breadcrumbs to follow.
I’ve just added you to my list of people that fall under the heading ‘uncontrollably brilliant’ Barrie and JoJo, I’ve just subscribed to the letter on your website.. (even though) I’m green with envy, it is everything I have in notes and plans for a website of my own and zero time to build not now, probably not ever...
Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. We were just talking about the website the other day - it is gorgeous (Andrew Eberlin, who is on Substack, did the design in Squarespace) but it is a luxury. The blog is fallow because I'm writing here; the Encouragement Manifesto is unfolding here. The tools I used to guide folk to the site (Twitter and Instagram mostly) are not helping. I wonder aloud if we might - by February when the renewal is due - drop the website and use Substack for our whole effort. Publications have a 'website' quality even if it is hard to personalise them; but maybe the content is the thing, not the framework it sits in. There are some words written by others that we'd migrate (I have a notion for an 'Encouragement Manifesto' book brimful of writing about the values - the writing of others is an important part of that collection). Use your time for your brilliant writing! B
I’m honored by your kind words. I had what was really a fleeting thought yesterday about intellectuals who are not necessarily curious, and kind of typed up that Note. I’m really surprised that it took off in any way, but I’m glad. Your piece makes me yearn for more. It also reminds me of a 6th grade (roughly ages 10-11) parent-teacher conference my parents told me about. My science teacher, who was fantastic, commented that I always raised my hand to ask a question about a subject we had covered 20 minutes before. Naturally, I never noticed. And my parents thought it was a positive trait. Thank you once again for your encouragement and kind mentions.
I was thinking about this yesterday. How the feeling of being inspired is one of the most fulfilling sensations life has to offer. For me, anyway. 🤷 And inspiration is like a flash of lightning between curiosity and creativity. Lighting up the sky of your world.
Agree. I'm finding the community wonderfully supportive and has made me more curious about various topics

Love this. Wow it’s lively over here. Keep writing you two ❤️
Thanks so much, Joel. Really appreciate you peeking in.
Always stay curious, question, question, question!
Agreeing 100%

I Hope to Barrie, Substack is an exciting alternative to my dream... ✨

I love when words we write unexpectedly strike a chord. Curiosity is a pathway to optimism, I'm certain, and we all need some of that.
These places are the perfect place for curious souls.
Curiosity is a pathway to optimism...brilliant!
Ah, thank you
🤩
Thanks for peeking in

Brilliantly put, thank you, Simon
Thank you so much, Adam ... when it gets hard to uncover grounds for optimism, I guess all we can do is look harder. Thanks for peeking in. B
