Oh! So touched to see this from you, the first time I’ve been on here in a long while. And that you share my love and admiration for The Unhurried Reader, who I think of as a friend even though I’ve not yet met her in real time and place (which is how I also think of you both, dear Feasts and Fables!). xxx
Somehow, I've never read The Summer Book, despite being a huge Moomins fan. I must set that straight this season. I'll be looking at my spoons differently today. And if you visit Ljubljana, you'll want to check out the staircase in the old "skyscaper" Nebotičnik .
I have ‘Moominpapa at Sea’ on my reading list of books published in 1965 … but the Summer Book is lined up for the Scandi leg. And we were just looking at Slovenia yesterday. Probably Ljubljana and Bohinj before getting the train to Budapest on the way to Istanbul. Love stairs.
Kudos to you both Barrie! Such wonderful eclectic choices, I love George Bradley's, The Sound of the Sun especially and the recycled utensils, wow!
I have barely written a word, other than student reports, in these last two weeks of the last term of the school year but today is the last day... I'm dancing a very early morning jig in anticipation of this evenings feeling of euphoria!
Have a fantastic day, we have hot, hot forecast again!
So thrilled that the Summer holidays beckon. We’ll dance a jig for you this evening. There’s the promise of cooler days from Sunday. I’m up early for toast, a banana and lemon water before a cycle out. Your hard work and commitment to education for all makes me respect my very privileged life of no work more and more. Hoping today is full of positives and good emotions. And that there’s something chilled in the fridge for later. Hugs from us.
Thank you Barrie… I’ve ten days to catch up on an unimaginable backlog of physical work before a much needed trip to Porto with Rosie… air traffic strike permitting of course! 🤞🏽
You don’t need my advice, of course, but don’t put all of you into those physical things. You want plenty in reserve to have THE best time in Porto with your dearest Rosie. We had such a good time in Portugal recently. The people, the food, the weather, the wine, the architecture … loved it.
The sculptures are stunning!! Wow, I love them very much. And awesome to see Claire’s Friday finds and feelings too, also more breathtaking photos from your trip, Barrie, chefs kiss!!
You’re so lovely, Emily. Thank you. So kind. What a fabulous set of finds for you. And thanks for the encouragement for my photos. JoJo is usually the snapper! 💛

Thanks for including Friday Finds and Feelings. I love writing these posts and happy you've discovered them!
Truly, our pleasure! Always happy to spread the ripples.

That one is quite dark. I also love his memoires - hilarious twinged with sadness. I think you’ll love Bohinj! Fabulous trip!

I made it to the end..! Woohoo!! Holidays start here 💃🏽
Yay! Hoping you have the beautiful restful never-ending Summer of your dreams. VERY well earned. 💛

Barrie I always need advice, yours as much as anyone else’s! Thank you… and noted, it’s very good advice!
What a lovely list of lists! I’m off to check out the others, who all sound intriguing. Thanks as ever for the lovely sights and words, Barrie
Always a pleasure as we travel round and round the peripherique of our collective curiosity!
