So much to feast on here. I do love that quote by Lemn Sissay...in a week where serendipity has brought me to different posts about light and shadow it seems so apt. Thanks Barrie.
I like Grant’s writing, very much. Happy May Day … we’re off to Nanteuil-en-Vallée for a couple of nights and plenty of cycling for my old legs. JoJo will be river swimming and we’re going wild with a meal out!
Yesterday, with four other teachers and a group of local hikers, we took two schools - 167 kids - on a ten kilometre hike across the Aveyron countryside in preparation for next weeks three day hiking bonanza in the Aubracs which is this years ‘voyage scolaire’ organised by our amazing and wildly optimistic new directrice - I will let you know how it turns if I’m capable at the end!
We’re delighted to share your beautiful work, fascinating knowledge made super-accessible for the curious at heart who have so much to learn. And we felt you might need the gentle encouragement against the tricksy backdrop of unsubscribes that savage the bottom line. We don’t have a big well to draw on for cash investments but we have all the capacity in the world for spreading the ripples … glad they found you today, George.
Serendipity: we just went to an exhibition at the Lodève museum ( Hérault ) that featured some Paul Klee, an artist I hadn't given much thought to in a while.
Love those kind of connections. Not an area we know very well though we parked the van, back in the day, and walked the Gorges d’Heric. Another on the list to return to. And even though it is parcelled into potager/verger and meadow, it is plenty of work for the old muscles … another two or three seasons and we’ll be ready for smaller. Thanks for reading, Betty.
You guys are quite literally the best 🥹 Thank you for mentioning me, and for the second time no less (I’m honestly so bloody chuffed) - but more so for being such a positive force in this universe.
I hope you know how bloody awesome you both are - because you are!
Ps: love that last image by Ludovic - what beautiful home that would make!
I love them so much. They’ve been on my mind as I wonder about how to capture our upcoming adventures in interesting, creative, engaging ways. Words, of course. Photos, for sure. But handwriting and (though I am desperately not good at it) sketching too. Something will emerge.
Another delightful miscellany! Thank you

So happy it hit the spot. My mum went to see Lemn Sissay a few weeks ago and I’m super envious. B
I love that quote from Grant Faulkner a lot! Pour gasoline over it... yes!
Always a wonderful read Barrie, I got in early this time! A day off tomorrow for us all!

You both sure know how to fill your days! Enjoy…

Sounds a wonderful hike. Fabulous to get the youngsters out.
I am about to find out, we have never attempted anything quite so ambitious with the primary students before… fingers and toes crossed!
Grateful to the two of you for including Art Every Day here, and for curating such a beautiful post in general (that last poem is stunning!).
But even more than all of that- thank you both for being such a force for kindness here. It really does make all the difference.

And 2 acres is a lot of work!

Imagine, eh, your very own lookout on the world.
And a wholehearted thank you. It means the world to us if these curations reach folk who appreciate them. Lovely of you to encourage the encouragers.
Lovely again. I remember those receipt drawings very well from your previous post: so good!

Thanks for reading, Matt.
Lovely!
Thank you so much, Sharron.
